Women’s Hockey Weekend Wrap – February 3, 2026

(1) Wisconsin at (3) Minnesota

In their first games missing several key players, these border rivals took some time to find their footing this weekend. Wisconsin gave freshman Rhyah Stewart her second career start in place of Ava McNaughton. Minnesota played with 10 forwards and Wisconsin had nine. In the first game, defender Sydney Morrow put Minnesota up 1-0 in the first with a wrister from the slot. The Badgers responded with two quick goals later in the second. Lacey Eden followed up her own rebound to tie the game and then Finley McCarthy wristed a bar-down beauty from the top of the right circle to give UW the lead. Minnesota equalized midway through the third on a deke and shot from Avery Hovland. The Gophers had a power play to close regulation and start overtime, but could not capitalize. Cassie Hall had a breakaway in alone on Hannah Clark, but was stopped cold. Minnesota took that momentum the other direction and Molly Jordan scored the overtime game-winner with a gorgeous toe drag to clear the defender before rocketing a shot to give the Gophers the 3-2 win. Minnesota is the only team to beat Wisconsin this year, handing them both of their losses. But Wisconsin responded on Saturday with a 6-1 win to take seven of 12 points from the Gophers this season. There were few penalties in Friday’s game, but that did not carry through to Saturday. UW took advantage of an early Minnesota penalty as Hall scored five seconds into the advantage in the opening two minute of the game to make it 1-0. Vivian Jungels put back a rebound to double the lead at the midpoint of the frame. The Gophers struggled with puck possession and turnovers and the Badgers capitalized in this game, first as Kelly Gorbatenko and Hall got in all alone on Layla Hemp after intercepting a pass. Hall made it 3-0. In the second, Maggie Scannell chased down a loose puck that may have headed for icing. Instead, she neatly tucked it around the goalie with a backhand to extend the lead to 4-0. Hall completed a hat trick midway through the second on a feed from Eden. Jungels got her second on a shot from the blue line to make it 6-0. The Gophers spoiled the shutout early in the third as Chloe Primerano found the back of the net, but the Badgers would take a 6-1 win.

(9) Minnesota Duluth at (2) Ohio State

The Buckeyes played their first game without five players who headed to the Olympics and just 13 available, but you wouldn’t have known it on Friday as they reeled off four first-period goals to put the game out of reach quickly. An early UMD power play was neutralized by a major penalty to Danielle Burgen for elbowing and Ohio State struck, scoring twice over the five minute advantage with goals from Jocelyn Amos and Sloane Matthews that were both put backs from rebounds. Kassidy Carmichael made it 3-0 just after the penalty expired on a shot from distance. Jordan Baxter’s goal rounded out the period to make it 4-0. Grace Sadura got UMD on the board midway through the second, but OSU responded with a goal from Amos to make it 5-1 at the second intermission. Amos completed her hat trick early in the third and Rae Mayer added a late power play goal for UMD, but Ohio State took the 6-2 win. On Saturday, Baxter put the Buckeyes on the board first, but Molly Cole responded for the Bulldogs, making it 1-1 at the first break. Amos continued her strong weekend with what would probe to be the game-winner 1:24 into the second to make it 2-1. UMD could not find more offense and Kaia Malachino’s power play goal in the third closed out the 3-1 win and series sweep for Ohio State.

Robert Morris at (4) Penn State

The two games faced off outside in Penn State’s football stadium for an outdoor game on Friday. The ice had issues leading to a lot of stoppages, but McKenna Walsh and Maddy Christian scored less than a minute apart in the second and Grace Outwater added a goal in the third to give PSU the 3-0 win. On Saturday, the teams went back inside and Robert Morris took advantage of some Nittany Lion mistakes to have a 2-0 lead early in the first. Taylor Storey’s steal gave her a free path to the goal that she buried in the first and 14 seconds into the second Jessica MacKinnon forced a turnover and fed Rowyn Ringor who made it 2-0. That lead lasted just 18 seconds as Outwater scored on a power play to make it 2-1 and two minutes later Abby Stonehouse tied things up 2-2. McKenna Walsh and Danica Maynard scored later in the second to give PSU the 4-2 lead at the break and Katelyn Roberts’ goal in the third secured the 5-2 come from behind win.

(5) Quinnipiac at (11) Clarkson

The last time these two teams met, it was a 0-0 tie. Clarkson quickly ensured Friday’s game wouldn’t be a repeat when Sara Manness forced a turnover in the neutral zone and carried it in before finding Sena Catterall in the slot, who was denied on her first shot but buried her own rebound just 12 seconds into the game. Lara Beecher scored on the power play later in the frame to extend the lead to 2-0. With under five to play, Rhea Hicks’ long-distance shot was stopped and deflected over the net. Sara Manness picked it up and found sister Kate at the doorstep for a tap in to make it 3-0 at the first intermission. Emerson Jarvis got Quinnipiac on the board in the second, coming right out of the penalty box and in on a breakaway to make it 3-1. In the third, Janelle Evans forced a turnover at the blue line and took the puck in on her own, giving the Golden Knights the 4-1 lead and eventual win.

(6) Northeastern vs. (13) Holy Cross

On Friday, Holy Cross had a 2-0 lead heading into the third thanks to goals 32 seconds apart from Lane Lewis and Reghan Chadwick. Kristina Allard pulled one back for the Huskies with under nine to play to make it 2-1, but as time wound down, Northeastern was forced to pull their goalie for an extra attacker. Jules Constantinople capitalized with 31.3 seconds left on the clock to force overtime. Neither team could find a go-ahead goal in the extra frame and it took six saves from Lisa Jönsson and a goal from Ashley Allard to give the Huskies the extra conference standings point. In the second game, Northeastern found a way to be the best penalty kill of the country twice as Ella Lloyd scored in the first and Morgan Jackson scored in the third to give NU a 2-0 lead. Chadwick scored for Holy Cross with just under two to play in regulation and could not find an equalizer before time expired, giving Northeastern the 2-1 win.

(7) Connecticut at New Hampshire

The Huskies defense had 18 blocks and held UNH to 16 shots on Friday, so Megan Woodworth’s power play goal midway through the second was all UConn needed to take a 1-0 win. On Saturday, the teams skated through 30 minutes scoreless before Claire Murdoch put back a rebound to give Connecticut the 1-0 lead. New Hampshire tied it early in the third when Danika Botterill put back a rebound of her own to make it 1-1. Nina Rossi’s poke check 10 minutes later went right to Addison Finn, who did not miss from close range to make it 2-1 Wildcats. True Thompson’s wrister tied the game with under four to play in regulation to force overtime. Julie Cabral’s snipe from the high slot won the game for New Hampshire in overtime, giving them the 3-2 victory.

(8) Princeton at St. Lawrence

These two teams skated a careful and even first 50 minutes of the game and neither could break through until Angelina DiGirolamo scored on the power play with 8:31 on the clock to get Princeton on the board. Mackenzie Alexander’s empty-netter in the final minute sealted the win as the Tigers skated of with a 2-0 victory.

(8) Princeton at (11) Clarkson

Uma Corniea made a career-high 43 saves while her offense went off despite being outshot 44-38 as Princeton took back sole possession of first place in the ECAC with a 6-1 win. The Tigres took control of this one early as Riley Sorokan scored two minutes in to make it 1-0. Then they scored two short-handed goals on one Clarkson power play later in the frame as first Angelina DiGirolamo and then Jane Kuehl lit the lamp to push the lead to 3-0 by the end of the first. In the second, Brooklyn Nimegeers tipped in a goal and Kuehn got a breakaway to make it 5-0. Mackenzie Alexander extended the lead to 6-0 in the third before Sara Manness was able to pull one back for Clarkson and spoil the shutout. But the Tigers took the 6-1 win to get a weekend sweep in upstate New York.

(10) Yale at RPI

The Bulldogs continued their steady climb up the rankings this weekend, starting with a 8-2 win over RIP where seven different Elis scored goals and 13 Yale players had at least one point. Carina DiAntonio and Avery Peters each found the back of the net before four minutes had passed and that set the town for the game. Jordan Ray led the team with a goal and three assists while Molly Boyle added four assists and DiAntonio added two goals. Chloe Obser and Kami O’Brien scored for RPI in the loss.

(10) Yale at Union

Yale has not yet lost in 2026, earning their 11th straight win Saturday. Things started a little slow for the Bulldogs and Union had a 1-0 lead at the first break thanks to a goal from Klara Kenttala. But the Elis came out of the locker room refreshed in the second and reeled off five goals. Molly Boyle, Jordan Ray and Gracie Gilkyson put Yale up 3-1 by the midpoint of the game. Mallory Mauracher pulled one back for the Garnet Chargers to close the gap to 3-2, but that lasted just two minutes as Sylvia Bojarski replied for the Bulldogs and Carina DiAntonio scored in the final minute to push the lead to 5-2. Neither team found the back of the net in the third and Yale skated off with the win.

Cornell responded in the final minute of the period as Karel Prefontaine lit the lamp with a power play goal of her own to make it 1-1. In the second, Boosamra’s top-shelf snipe gave Harvard the 2-1 lead. Keira Ley’s empty-netter in the third secured the 3-1 win for the Crimson.

(14) Minnesota State at Bemidji State

The Mavericks controlled play on Friday as Taylor Otremba, Lauren Zawoyski and Mercury Bischoff each scored to lead MSU to a 3-0 win. On Saturday, Bemidji State snapped a seven-game losing streak and earned their third win of the season over a ranked opponent as Ava Hills made 29 saves as the Beavers came from behind to take down Mankato. It was Otrembra once again to open the scoring for MSU, putting them up 1-0 midway through the first. Izy Fairchild’s power play goal with about four to play in the frame sent the teams to the locker room tied 1-1. Neither team could capitalize on power plays in the second, sending the game to the third still tied 1-1. Shelby Sandberg scored what would prove to be the game-winner midway through the third and the Beaver defense kept Mankato contained, as Bemidji took the 2-1 win.

(15) Mercyhurst at Delaware

Charlotte Payne made 44 saves for the Blue Hens, but it was not enough as Mercyhurst took a 4-0 win on Friday.
