Miami has announced that freshman goaltender Shika Gadzhiev will no longer be part of the RedHawks’ program this season.

According to a Miami news release, the school and Gadzhiev have actively worked for many months to try and get the Russian native cleared by the NCAA for competition, but despite those efforts, he currently remains ineligible for Division I hockey.

Gadzhiev will pursue an opportunity in the sport where he can play immediately.

In addition, Miami announced the addition of Quebec goaltender Mathis Langevin to the roster.

Langevin played 10 games this season with the QMJHL’s Rimouski Océanic, posting a 3-7-0 record with. 3.74 goals-against average with a .891 save percentage.

Langevin helped lead the Océanic to the QMJHL final last season, going 12-4-0 in the playoffs with a .944 save percentage, a 1.57 GAA and three shutouts to his credit. He was 9-2-1 in the 2024-25 regular season for Rimouski with a 2.44 GAA and a .912 save percentage after beginning the year with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

Langevin will be eligible to play for Miami beginning with the Great Lakes Invitational in Grand Rapids, Mich. later this month.
