
The last time the Wolverines blanked the Spartans in Michigan State’s home barn was Jan. 7, 2000 — nearly seven years before tonight’s winning goaltender, Jack Ivankovic, was born.
Ivankovic made 23 saves in his first-ever game in this rivalry series, the third shutout of the season for the freshman netminder.
Another rookie, Malcolm Spence, had the game-winning goal at 5:17 in the first period.

Freshman Aidan Park made it 2-0 at 10:09 in the second and another player making his debut in this rivalry, junior Jayden Perron, made it 3-0 on the power play at 16:30 in the third. Perron is a transfer from North Dakota.
Six different Wolverines picked up the assists in the game. In net for Michigan State, Trey Augustine made 24 saves on 27 shots.
The win moves Michigan into first place in the Big Ten, a point ahead of Michigan State. The teams meet in Yost Ice Arena Saturday to complete this home-and-home series.
No. 2 Wisconsin 7, Notre Dame 4
Quinn Finley and Joe Palodichuk had two goals and an assist apiece and Daniel Hauser made 21 saves in his 12th win of the season as Wisconsin rolled past Notre Dame, 7-4, in the Compton Family Ice Arena.
Notre Dame led 2-1 after the first but Wisconsin scored four in the second and three in the third en route to their 11th win of the season.
Evan Werner had two goals for Notre Dame, opening the scoring at 3:11 in the first period and tying the game 4-4 at 1:23 in the third. Ryan Botterill answered Werner’s second goal just over a minute later with the tally that put the Badgers up for good.

Gavin Morrissey, Blake Montgomery and Tyson Dyck each registered two assists for Wisconsin. Palodichuk’s single helper on the night was the only assist on Botterill’s game-winning goal.
Eli Pulver started in the Wisconsin net, allowing two goals on six shots through the first 20 minutes.
In net for Notre Dame, Nicholas Kempf stopped 30 of the 35 shots he faced. Finley and Simon Tassy scored empty-netters for the final two Wisconsin goals.
No. 4 Minnesota Duluth 4, No. 7 Western Michigan 1
Minnesota Duluth went 3-for-3 on the power play in a 4-1 road win over Western Michigan in Lawson Arena.
Scout Truman had two goals on the man advantage and Max Plante had one, the game-winner that came at 4:30 in the second period.

Grayden Siepmann had Duluth’s first goal at 12:33 in the first, the Bulldogs’ only even-strength marker. Grant Slukynsky scored Western Michigan’s goal at 6:59 in the second.
The Bulldogs outshot the Broncos 30-23. In net for Minnesota Duluth, Adam Gajan had 22 saves for his 12th win of the season. Hampton Slukynsky stopped 26 for Western Michigan.
No. 5 North Dakota 4, St. Cloud State 3
Jan Špunar stood against a third-period Huskies push and Will Zellers scored his fourth game-winning goal of the season in North Dakota’s 4-3 road win over St. Cloud State.
Zellers scored on a feed from Ollie Josephson at 11:08 in the third period to put the Fighting Hawks ahead 4-2, his 10th tally of the season.

The Huskies outshot the Fighting Hawks 11-6 in the third period. At 13:08, Gavyn Thoreson scored to bring St. Cloud to within one.
Barrett Hall had a short-hander for the Huskies in the first and Dylan James netted his fourth power-play goal of the year for the River Hawks late in the second. Shots were 23-23 in the game. Špunar made 20 saves in the win. For the Huskies, Patriks Berzins had 19 saves.
No. 6 Denver 4, No. 19 Miami 0
Quentin Miller made 22 saves in his third shutout of the season and the Pioneers scored three in the second period in Denver’s 4-0 home win over Miami in Magness Arena.
Four different Pioneers scored, with Rieger Lorenz pocketing the game-winner less than five minutes into the first period, his fifth goal of the season.

Garrett Brown, Kyle Chyzowski and Eric Pohlkamp had the second-period goals.
In net for Miami, Matteo Drobac stopped 38-of-42.
No. 8 Quinnpiac 5, Rensselaer 1
Quinnipiac’s Markus Vidicek scored twice, Chris Pelosi had two assists and Ethan Wyttenbach led all Bobcats with a goal and two helpers in a 5-1 win in Rensselaer’s Houston Fieldhouse.
It was Matthew Lansing’s fourth goal of the season at 12:28 in the first that put Quinnipiac up for good.

Victor Czerneckianair scored the fifth Quinnipiac goal. Kazimier Sobieski had the only goal for the Engineers.
Matej Marinov had 16 saves on 17 shots for the win. In the Rensselaer net, Bruno Bruveris stopped 22-of-27.
No. 10 Dartmouth 7, Brown 3
Hayden Stavroff earned his second career hat trick in a four-goal performance in Dartmouth’s 7-3 home win over Brown.
Stavroff led all scorers with five points and was the only Dartmouth player to register more than a goal, but teammate Hank Cleaves had a goal and three assists, while Brown’s Andrew King registered a hat trick in his first game of the season.
Nikita Nikora scored his second game-winning goal of the season at 8:35 in the second to give Dartmouth a 4-2 lead.

Nikora finished the night with a goal and an assist.
Tyler Shea started in net for Brown and had the loss, stopping 19-of-24. Midway through the second period, Freddie Halyk replaced Shea and made 15 saves on 17 shots for the remainder of the game.
Roan Clarke made 14 saves in his fourth win of the season for the Big Green.
New Hampshire 1, No. 11 Maine 0
Kyle Chauvette made 21 saves in his second consecutive shutout and his third of the season in New Hampshire’s 1-0 road upset of Maine in Alfond Arena.
After two scoreless periods of play, Cam MacDonald had the only goal of the game at 4:14 in the third period.

Mathis Rousseau made 13 saves for Maine as the Black Bears outshot the Wildcats 21-14.

Tristan Lemyre scored two power-play goals and Jakob Stender had a short-hander in Minnesota State’s 5-1 win over visiting Ferris State.
Jack Smith opened the scoring for the Mavericks at 1:32 in the first, unassisted.

Fin Williams scored the game-winner 14 minutes later, his second goal of the season.
John Lundy had Ferris State’s only goal, unassisted at 17:34 in the third.
In net for the Bulldogs, Noah Rupprecht stopped 22-of-27. For Minnesota State, Alex Tracy made 22 saves for his 11th win of the season.
No. 14 Connecticut 3, Merrimack 0
Alexandre Blais, Kaden Shahan and Jake Richard each scored a goal and Tyler Muszelik made 19 saves in Connecticut’s 3-0 road win over Merrimack.
Blais picked up the trash at 7:19 in the second for his fourth goal of the season, his second game-winner.

No. 15 Boston College 3, UMass Lowell 1
Dean Letourneau scored twice on the power play and James Hagens netted his third game-winning goal of the season in Boston College’s 3-1 road win over UMass Lowell.
Hagens scored from the point at 10:58 in the second to put the Eagles ahead 2-0.

Mirko Buttazzoni had Lowell’s only goal at 8:13 in the third.
Louka Cloutier made 15 saves in the win. For UMass Lowell, Austin Elliott stopped 26-of-29.
Clarkson 4, No. 17 Cornell 1
With the score tied 1-1 at the start of the third, Clarkson scored three times within the span of two minutes to surge ahead of visiting Cornell, upsetting the Big Red 4-1 in Cheel Arena.
Remi Gelinas started the third-period scoring at 6:24, his third career goal and first game-winner.

Owen Van Steensel followed that up at 6:41, and Shawn O’Donnell made it 4-1 at 8:17.
Shane Soderwall saved 32-of-33 in the Clarkson win. For Cornell, Alexis Cournoyer made 25 stops on 29 shots.
No. 18 Boston University 2, Vermont 1
Jack Harvey had a hand in both goals in Boston University’s 2-1 home win over Vermont.
Harvey fed Kamil Bednarik from behind the net to open the scoring for the Terriers at 14:44 in the first.
On Charlie Trethewey’s game-winning goal at 14:38 in the second, Harvey moved the puck to Sacha Boisvert along the left boards as Trethewey was coming in on the right wing. Trethewey one-timed Boisvert’s cross-crease pass for his first goal of the season.

Jonah Aegerter scored for Vermont midway through the third period.
In his eighth win of the season, Mikhail Yegorov made 25 saves on 26 shots. Axel Mangbo stopped 26-of-28 for Vermont.
Ohio State 6, Minnesota 5 (OT)
After dropping a 6-3 home game to Minnesota Thursday night, Ohio State rebounded with a 6-5 overtime win in Value City Arena to split the series and halt a six-game skid.
The Buckeyes opened and closed the scoring in this back-and-forth game, first on Felix Caron’s power-play goal at 9:38 in the first and then finally when Jake Karabela potted the game-winning goal at 1:11 in overtime.
The second period ended with a 4-3 Ohio State lead, but goals from Jimmy Clark and Brodie Ziemer gave the Golden Gophers a 5-4 edge by the 7:38 mark in the third.
It was Adam Eisele’s goal on Karabela’s sweet set-up that tied the game at 9:23 for the Buckeyes.

Six different Buckeyes scored in the win, with Karabela leading OSU scorers with a goal and two assists. Kristoffer Eberly stopped 14-of-19 in the win.
Ziemer had two goals and an assist for Minnesota. Nathan Airey made 30 saves for the Golden Gophers.
Northern Michigan 3, Bowling Green 2
With goals from Caiden Gault, Landon MacDonald and Girts Silkalns in front of a 34-save performance by William Gramme, Northern Michigan withstood a third-period push from Bowling Green to win 3-2, the first CCHA victory of the season for the Wildcats.
Silkalns’ goal early in the third period made it 3-0 and held up as the game-winner. It was the first as a Wildcat for the junior transfer from UMass Lowell.

Gramme turned aside 20 shots in the third period alone, when the Falcons outshot the Wildcats 22-4.
Connor Levis and Brody Waters had the two goals for Bowling Green in the third. Tyler Palmer made 17 saves in net for the Falcons.
Niagara 3, Bentley 1
When Lane Brockhoff scored at 11:11 in the third period to put Niagara up 2-1 over Bentley, he did what no other Atlantic Hockey player has been able to do this season: score the game-winning goal against the Falcons.

With Brockhoff’s goal and two from Marshall Finnie, the Purple Eagles won 3-1 on the road and the Falcons registered their first conference loss of the season.
After a scoreless first period, Niagara took a 1-0 lead into the third on Finnie’s first goal of the night. Jake Black tied the game for Bentley at 9:48 in the third, but Brockhoff put Niagara ahead and Finnie scored his second on an empty net at 17:50.
Deivs Rolovs stopped 37 of the 38 shots he faced for the win, as Bentley outshot Niagara 38-19. Lukas Swedin had 16 saves for the Falcons.
