FRIDAY COLLEGE HOCKEY ROUNDUP: Five different goal scorers, Eberly’s 30 saves lead Ohio State to 5-1 win over No. 7 Wisconsin

Ohio State used a four-goal third period to pull away from No. 7 Wisconsin and defeat the Badgers 5-1 Friday night at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wis.

Ryan Gordon opened the scoring for the Buckeyes in the first period and the score stayed 1-0 until the third period.

In the final frame, Adam Eisele, Max Montes, Jake Karabela and Davis Burnside scored to seal the Big Ten win for Ohio State.

Simon Tassy’s goal at 11:34 of the third period cut the Ohio State lead to 2-1.

Ohio State goalie Kris Eberly made 30 saves for the win.

The Badgers’ Daniel Hauser finished with 15 saves in a losing effort.

No. 1 Michigan State 4, Notre Dame 1

Porter Martone scored a pair of goals to lead Michigan State past Notre Dame at the Compton Family Ice Arena in South Bend, Ind.

Maxim Štrbák and Ryker Lee also scored to back Trey Augustine’s 24 saves in goal. Dolan Gilbert played the final 54 seconds for the Spartans and didn’t face a shot.

Paul Fischer netted the lone Irish tally and goalie Nicholas Kempf made 43 saves.

No. 2 Michigan 7, No. 5 Penn State 1

Seven different players scored a goal as Michigan routed Penn State 7-1 from Pegula Ice Arena in State College, Pa.

Josh Eernisse, Will Horcoff, Nick Moldenhauer, Garrett Schifsky, Adam Valentini, TJ Hughes and Cole McKinney all found the net for the Wolverines, while goalie Jack Ivankovic made 26 stops.

Shea Van Olm recorded Penn State’s only goal and Kevin Reidler finished with 30 saves in net.

No. 3 Minnesota Duluth 5, Omaha 2

Ty Hanson’s hat trick propelled Minnesota Duluth to a 5-2 win over Omaha at AMSOIL Arena in Duluth, Minn.

Joey Pierce and Callum Arnott scored the other Bulldogs’ goals and netminder Adam Gajan turned aside 23 shots.

Joel Plante and Jacob Slipec tallied the goals for the Mavericks and goalie Simon Latkoczy registered 38 saves.

No. 4 Denver 2, No. 17 Colorado College 1 (OT)

Scoreless after 40 minutes, Riley Stuart gave Colorado College the lead at 5:41 of the third period only to have Eric Pohlkamp answer at 16:34 from Magness Arena in Denver, Colo.

Boston Buckberger then won it for DU at 3:34 of overtime.

Denver goalie Quentin Miller made 29 saves, while Colorado College goalie Kaidan Mbereko also made 29 stops.

No. 6 North Dakota 5, Arizona State 2

Will Zellers popped two goals to guide North Dakota to a 5-2 win at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D.

Ben Strinden, Tyler Young and Cody Croal also scored for the Fighting Hawks and goaltender Jan Špunar made 19 saves.

Cruz Lucius and Kyle Smolen scored for the Sun Devils and Samuel Urban stopped 38 shots between the pipes.

No. 8 Maine 7, Vermont 0

Josh Nadeau scored two goals and goaltender Albin Boija pitched a 29-save shutout as Maine blanked Vermont 7-0 from Alfond Arena in Orono, Maine.

Sully Scholle, Jeremy Langlois, Miguel Marques, Owen Fowler and Justin Poirier also scored for the Black Bears.

Catamounts goalie Aiden Wright and Axel Mangbo combined on a 25-save effort.

No. 9 Western Michigan 5, Miami 2

Liam Valente, Theo Wallberg, Zach Nehring, Zach Bookman and Sam Huck all scored to help Western Michigan to a 5-2 victory over Miami from Lawson Ice Arena in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Broncos goalie Hampton Slukynsky stopped 20 shots for the win.

For Miami, Ilia Morozov, the youngest player in NCAA D-I men’s hockey, scored both goals and RedHawks goalie Matteo Drobac made 35 saves.

No. 18 Boston College 7, No. 12 Massachusetts 3

Boston College used seven different goal scorers to down UMass 7-3 from Kelley Rink at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Dean Letourneau, Drew Fortescue, James Hagens, Ryan Conmy, Will Vote, Brady Berard and Will Traeger scored for the Eagles with goalie Louka Cloutier making just 13 saves.

For the Minutemen, Jack Galanek, Jack Musa and Daniel Jenčko scored and Jackson Irving stopped 32 shots in the UMass crease.

No. 14 Connecticut 4, No. 11 Northeastern 2

In the battle of the Huskies, Jake Percival’s three-goal night pushed UConn to a 4-2 win over Northeastern from the Toscano Family Ice Forum in Storrs, Conn.

Ethan Gardula also scored in the win and goalie Tyler Muszelik made 33 stops.

For Northeastern, Dylan Compton and Jack Pechar scored and Lawton Zacher finished with 31 saves between the pipes.

No. 15 Providence 4, Merrimack 2

Roger McQueen scored twice as Providence doubled up Merrimack 4-2 from Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I.

Tanner Adams and Logan Sawyer added goals for the Friars, who got a 13-save outing from goaltender Philip Svedebäck.

Justin Gill and Nick Pierre potted the Warriors’ goals and netminder Max Lundgren made 33 saves.

No. 16 Minnesota State 2, Lake Superior State 1 (OT)

Evan Murr’s second goal of the game just 29 seconds into overtime lifted Minnesota State to a 2-1 win over Lake Superior State from Taffy Abel Arena in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

Mavericks goalie Alex Tracy made 37 saves.

Sasha Teleguine posted the Lakers’ only goal and netminder Rorke Applebee stopped 39 shots.

No. 19 Dartmouth 6, St. Lawrence 1

Nathan Morin’s hat trick paced Dartmouth past St. Lawrence 6-1 from Appleton Arena in Canton, N.Y.

Hank Cleaves, Brock Cummings and Alex Krause added goals for the Big Green and goalie Roan Clarke made 14 saves.

For the Saints, Nicholas Beneteau scored at 17:32 of the third period, while netminder Mason Kucenski finished with 21 saves.

No. 20 Cornell 4, Brown 1

Caton Ryan scored twice as Cornell defeated Brown 4-1 from Lynah Rink in Ithaca, N.Y.

Gio DiGiulian and Ryan Walsh added goals for the Big Red.

Brian Nicholas scored the Bears’ goal with 3:32 left in the game, breaking Cornell goalie Alexis Cournoyer’s shutout bid. Cournoyer finished with 27 saves.

Brown goalie Tyler Shea made 21 saves.
