Friday night, No. 1 Michigan State needed every last minute – and some extra time – to get past No. 3 Penn State in this weekend’s marquis showdown in overtime.
Saturday, all the Spartans needed was Trey Augustine. The junior net minder stopped all 36 shots he faced and his teammates handled the offense scoring five times in a 5-0 victory to complete the weekend sweep of Michigan State.

No. 10 Wisconsin 6, No. 2 Michigan 1
On Friday night in a 7-4 loss, Mike Hastings’ Wisconsin squad probably felt like that was a game that got away.
The Badgers entered the game still unbeaten and led No. 2 Michigan late, only to watch the Wolverines rally for the game’s final four goals. Saturday. the Badgers made no mistake, jumping to a 3-0 lead in the first and holding off any sort of Michigan rally, winning 6-1.

Wilmer’s winner came on the power play when Brown was whistled for too many men on the ice with 57 seconds remaining in overtime.
No. 12 Boston University 5, Merrimack 4
No. 5 Boston University held off a furious late push to edge Merrimack 5–4 on Saturday at Lawler Rink, completing a two-game Hockey East sweep of the Warriors. The result follows BU’s 3–2 overtime win on Friday to open the series.
After a scoreless first, the Terriers seized control with three unanswered goals early in the second to make it 3–0. Merrimack clawed back to 3–2 before BU restored breathing room, stretching the lead to 5–2 midway through the third.

Sacha Boisvert assisted on four BU goals to pace all players. Mikhail Yegorov stopped 27 shots to earn the win.
No. 9 Denver 6, 4 Western Michigan 3
Denver offense exploded early, spotting the Pioneers a 4-0 lead before the defense held off a rally from the defending national champs in a 6-3 win. The victory completes the weekend sweep for Denver.

Six different Pioneers scored goals in the game and 13 different Denver players registered points. Quentin Miller was outstanding in net, stopping 41 saves, including 29 over the game’s final two periods.
Being swept is certainly something foreign to the Broncos, who never lost back-to-back games last season en route to the national title. It is the first three-game losing streak for Western Michigan since November 2023.
