JOE VANDERVERE

Hiram has announced the hiring of Joe Vandervere as an assistant coach for the first-year men’s hockey team.

Dr. Jeffrey Curto was named head coach in June 2024.

Vandervere joins Hiram by way of St. John’s, as well as the P.A.L. Jr. Islanders USPHL Premier team, where he was an assistant coach, scout and video analyst. In his third season with the team, he helped the team win its first playoff series in team history and advance to nationals.

Vandervere also learned the art of film study and video analysis, working under other coaches on staff to help cut game film. He recently totaled two years of work as a paid assistant with the program.

Hiram is just over two months away from the start of competition. The Terriers will begin their season with the “Terriers Blue-White Scrimmage” on Oct. 18 and the first official date of competition at the Buffalo State Bengals Classic Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
