Last weekend, Matthew and I went 4-3-1 (.562). On the year, I am now 57-42-16 (.565), while Matthew is 53-46-16 (.530). This weekend, we see things different in one series, so perhaps he’ll start to catch up.
Friday-Saturday, Nov. 17-18
No. 1 North Dakota at Miami
Candace: I feel like North Dakota got its bad game out of its system last Friday against Omaha, and while I don’t expect either game to be easy, I do see a North Dakota sweep. North Dakota 4-2, 3-2
Matthew: Part of me feels like Miami might have started turning a corner last weekend against Colorado College, but I’ve been here before with the RedHawks. North Dakota 3-1, 3-1
No. 8 Minnesota Duluth at St. Cloud State
Candace: Home ice is the only thing that makes me pause, but I just feel like Minnesota Duluth is starting to click and is going to be moving toward a play at the NCAA tournament. Minnesota Duluth 3-2, 4-2
Matthew: UMD hasn’t lost in regulation since the first weekend of December, but could that happen here? This SCSU team hasn’t been the easiest one to predict. St. Cloud State 2-1, Minnesota Duluth 4-1
No. 4 Denver at Omaha
Candace: Denver looked very good for the most part last weekend, except for a nap late in the second period on Saturday. I think this will be a Pioneers sweep, putting even more distance between the top three and the rest of the league. Denver 4-2, 5-3
Matthew: UNO got a very credible split last week at North Dakota, but the Mavericks are 0-15-1 in their last 16 meetings with Denver and I don’t know that it changes this weekend. Denver 3-2, 3-1
Colorado College at Western Michigan
Candace: I’m tempted to pick a Western sweep since they are at home, but the Broncos haven’t been consistent enough of late. Western Michigan 4-2, Colorado College 3-2
Matthew: Going in, a split seems fair for a series between two of the NCHC’s more underwhelming teams this season. Western Michigan 3-1, Colorado College 3-2
