Wisconsin tabbed top team in WCHA women’s preseason poll ahead of ’19-20 season

Defending national champion Wisconsin is the unanimous pick among league head coaches to win the WCHA regular-season title.

The Badgers, who also won the WCHA playoff championship last season en route to their fifth national title, collected 36 points and six first-place votes in the preseason poll. Defending WCHA regular-season champion Minnesota received the remaining first place vote and tallied 31 points in the poll.

The preseason WCHA Player of the Year ended in a tie between Wisconsin senior forward Abby Roque and Ohio State junior forward Emma Maltais.

Minnesota freshman defenseman Madeline Wethington is the preseason WCHA Rookie of the Year.

Roque and Maltais are also part of the preseason All-WCHA Team.
