Mercyhurst’s Tanskanen suspended one game by CHA for checking from behind penalty against Syracuse

Mercyhurst forward Vilma Tanskanen has been suspended one game by College Hockey America.

Tanskanen was whistled for a five-minute major for checking from behind and given a game misconduct midway through the second period of Saturday’s 4-0 loss to Syracuse.

After CHA officials reviewed the play, it was found that Tanskanen’s penalty warranted additional discipline from the league office.

Tanskanen will be unable to play for Mercyhurst when the Lakers travel to Penn State on Feb. 15 for the first of two games against the Nittany Lions.
