St. Scholastica vs. No. 9 Gustavus Adolphus
The Gusties had a great win against Hamline over the weekend, and I think they have the goaltending to be able to hold off a strong St. Scholastica team. Statistically, the Saints have put up three goals per game, whereas their opponents have put up 1.8 goals per game. The Saints have yet to win a game where the opponent has scored more than two goals. So, based upon these stats the Gusties will need to keep the Saints to two goals or less to have the best chance at winning. Gustavus Adolphus 3-2
Castleton vs. Connecticut College
The NESCAC is a strong conference, and I don’t see Castleton taking this game from Connecticut College. To win, Castleton will need to hold up stronger in the third period, as most goals against have come in the last period. They will also need to score first and outshoot their opponent, as they have yet to lose when this happens. Connecticut College 4-2
Saint Mary’s vs. No. 10 Wisconsin-Eau Claire
Saint Mary’s is a tough physical team. However, Wisconsin-Eau Claire has the home ice advantage, and I think that will help the Blugolds get the win. Wisconsin-Eau Claire has been consistent throughout each period of every game, but this hasn’t been the case for Saint Mary’s. The Cardinals’ opponents have scored most of their goals in the third period, and with this third period letdown the Blugolds will be too much for the Cardinals. Wisconsin-Eau Claire 3-1
Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 24-25
Panther/Cardinal Classic Tournament
No. 1 Elmira vs. No. 4 Middlebury
Elmira is an extremely strong team, and with Middlebury having only a couple of games under their belt coupled with their young roster, this will be too much for Middlebury to win the contest. Middlebury needs a few more games to gain the needed experience to beat a team as talented as Elmira. Elmira 5-1
No. 2 Plattsburgh vs. No. 5 Adrian
Adrian needs to play more consistently throughout the entire game to beat Plattsburgh. Statistically, they seem to be letting up in the second period, which can be a big mistake against a team like Plattsburgh, as they will take control and take advantage of any mistakes. I don’t see Adrian coming out with the win, although I do see the game being nail-bitingly close. Plattsburgh 3-2
Codfish Bowl Tournament
Wesleyan vs. Massachusetts-Boston
Wesleyan will play their first game on Nov. 20, and UMass-Boston has played eight games already this season. The experience UMass-Boston has already gained from playing numerous games is the reason why I am predicting they will win the game. I believe Wesleyan will be a better team from last year, and that will keep the score close. UMass-Boston 3-1
Manhattanville vs. Bowdoin
For the most part, these teams are evenly matched. Nevertheless, I think Bowdoin’s large group of seniors will get the job done and secure the win. Bowdoin lost their first two games against Colby, and I think that this team is hungry for their first win. Bowdoin 2-1
