Denver goaltender Dayton Rusmussen, who played in five games last season for the Pioneers, has left school and will play for the USHL’s Lincoln Stars this upcoming season.

The Stars acquired Rasmussen’s rights this past week from the Chicago Steel in exchange for two future USHL draft picks.

“We are very excited to add Dayton to our organization,” said Stars coach Cody Chupp in a news release. “His experience and proven success in the USHL and at the University of Denver will be a valuable asset in continuing to build a championship-caliber culture here in Lincoln.”

Rasmussen, who also played for the USHL’s Tri-City Storm, went 1-1-1 at DU with a 3.28 GAA and a .882 save percentage.
