The Wildcats more than took care of business in their opening night of the WCHA playoffs by defeating the Chargers 7-1. NMU was dominant from the start with four goals coming before the halfway point of the first period.
The Chargers avoided the shutout thanks to a powerplay goal from Brandon Parker, marking his first of the season. Wildcat forwards Denver Pierce and Robbie Payne led the charge with two goals apiece while Adam Rockwood racked up four assists on the night. The Chargers registered just 13 shots on net and need to find a way to create more scoring chances to stay alive. Game two of the series will start tomorrow at 7:07 ET.
