BOSTON — Connecticut made an opening three-goal run stand up en route to their sixth straight victory and fifth in Hockey East play. Maxim Letunov scored the eventual game-winning goal 1:46 into the third period, as the host Huskies clawed back within one on goals by Nolan Stevens and Adam Gaudette. It was UConn’s first-ever win at Boston’s Matthews Arena and completed a season series sweep.
Spencer Naas, Benjamin Freeman, and Corey Ronan scored the other three UConn goals. Naas also recorded an assist on Ronan’s empty-net goal with 2.3 seconds remaining in regulation for a two-point night, extending his career-long point streak to six games.
Tanner Creel made a season-high 34 saves for the visitors, improving to 6-1-0 over his last seven games for UConn. Northeastern’s Cayden Primeau stopped 30, including 18 in the first period.
