BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Canisius Golden Griffins, led by a two-goal performance from Matt Hoover, both of which came via the power play, and a 27-save performance from goaltender Daniel Urbani, defeated the Army Black Knights 4-1 on Friday night.
Even-strength ice was hard to come by in the hotly contested battle as evidenced by a total of 14 combined power plays. Ian Edmonson opened the scoring for the Griffins while Matt Long closed out the scoring with an empty net goal.
Conor Andrle scored the lone tally for the Knights while in the net, Cole Bruns stopped 26 of 29 shots in the loss.
