Minnesota State 4, Alaska Anchorage 3

Despite scoring late with an extra attacker in hopes of a two-goal comeback, Minnesota State held on for a 4-3 win over Anchorage. Austin Azurdia broke open the scoring for the Seawolves, capitalizing on a power play. The Mavericks quickly bounced back with goals coming from Nicholas Rivera and Jake Jeremko for a 2-1 lead after the first. The second ended up being all Mavericks with Dallas Gerads and Zeb Knutson earning even-strength goals, making it 4-1 in their favor and all but assuring a victory. The Seawolves fought back in the third when Jonah Renouf put one home just four minutes into the period, giving them a bit of a spark. After pulling their netminder, Renouf followed up his goal with an assist to Jarrett Brown to pull them within one. Mavericks goaltender Connor LaCouvee stood strong for the remaining 56 seconds and stifled the Seawolves’ hopes of a comeback.
