Visiting Lake Superior State rode 13 third-period saves from junior goaltender Nick Kossoff and even strength goals from senior J.T. Henke and junior Anthony Nellis to a 2-0 victory at Bemidji State on Friday.
Henke added to his goal tally as the team’s leading scorer in the win and Nellis now sits second behind sophomore Max Humitz for the team lead in goals with 10.
The Beavers were 4-4 on the penalty kill and threw 28 shots at the Lakers net, but the visitors stood their ground to snap a four-game losing streak.
Bryan Basilico and Kyle Chatham assisted on Henke’s goal and Gage Torrel moved into a tie for third with Humitz with his ninth helper of the year on Nellis’ marker.
Lake Superior improves to 7-20-4 overall and 5-15-3 in WCHA action. Bemidji State falls 14-9-6 overall and 6-4-2 in conference play, now tied for third with Minnesota State.
