Connecticut won its fourth straight contest, toppling first-place Boston College, 5-3. BC retained its position atop the Hockey East standings, but saw its margin over second place Northeastern sliced in half to a single point.
Senior forward Corey Ronan got the Huskies started with a shorthanded goal just 6:12 into the game, and Spencer Naas doubled the margin just 28 seconds later. BC battled back, however, completing a wild minute with the first of two Julius Mattila goals, just 19 seconds later.
BC tied the game on the other Mattila strike, but UConn pulled ahead again, and Ronan got the game-winner in the third.
