No. 16 Boston College 5, UMass Lowell 2

The Eagles jumped back into sole possession of first place in Hockey East after earning a weekend split at Conte Forum, thanks in large part to a four-goal second period and contributions from 13 skaters. JD Dudek and Jesper Mattila each had two points for BC, while Joseph Woll improved to 10-8-2 on the season with a 24-save performance.

David Cotton’s power-play goal 18:39 into the first period began a five-goal flurry that was not interrupted over the first 44-plus minutes of play. Graham McPhee scored the eventual game-winner 7:36 into the second period as Charlie Levesque and Tommy Panico got Lowell on the board with two goals in less than a two-minute span in the third.

Chris Forney assisted on both River Hawk goals. Tyler Wall made 17 saves in a starting role for Lowell, while Christoffer Hernberg stopped all but one of the 14 shots he faced in relief.
