It was another high-scoring, close game between No. 16 Penn State and No. 20 Wisconsin. After the Badgers pulled out the regulation win on Friday, the two teams played to a tie on Saturday at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin. The Badgers ended up picking up the extra point in the shootout as Linus Weissbach scored the only goal in the three-round shootout.
Aside from the two teams combining for 24 penalties in this one, there was plenty of scoring. Wisconsin went into the third period trailing 3-1. JD Greenway would pull the Badgers within a goal less than two minutes into the third period. After the Nittany Lions got a goal back 21 seconds later, Wisconsin sent the game to overtime thanks to goals from Weissbach and Max Zimmer. Denis Smirnov was the big standout for Penn State as he tallied two goals in the tie.
