Joel Messner was one of six Mavericks to score, but it was his game-winner with 6:48 left that broke a 2-2 tie and propeled Omaha past the visiting Broncos.
WMU came back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game at 2-2 with tallies by Neal Goff and Austin Rueschoff in the first 10 minutes of the third period before Messner’s goal. UNO scored three goals in the final 63 seconds to account for the scoring margin at Baxter Arena.
Evan Weninger made 32 saves in the win while WMU’s Austin Cain made 23 stops in his second NCAA start.
