Red-shirt feshman transfer Chris Schutz scored his third goal in nine game with 13:30 remaining in regulation to push the host River Hawks past Boston College, 3-2, in a rematch of last year’s Hockey East title game.
Lowell jumped out to a 2-0 lead through two periods on goals by Ryan Collins and Ryan Dmowski in the middle frame. But Boston College stormed back in the third.
Graham McPhee scored twice early in the third, at 2:08 on the power play and at 5:24 on at even strength to knot the score at two.
But Lowell and Schutz brought the sellout crowd of 6,227 to their feet and gave his team the victory.
Tyler Wall made 25 saves to earn the victory while BC’s Joseph Woll stopped 23 shots in taking the loss.
