Massachusetts goaltender Matt Murray stopped all 29 shots he faced as the host Minutemen upset Northeastern, 3-0. Mitchell Chaffee scored twice for UMass in victory.
The night was a rough one in terms of penalties for the visiting Huskies. Both Biagio Lerario and Jeremy Davies were assessed majors and game misconduct penalties for contact to the head and Northeastern’s penalty kill was tested seven times, allowing a single power play tally.
It is the second career shutout for the freshman Murray, who also whitewashed Merrimack, 4-0, earlier this year.
