No. 4 Denver 4, Miami 1

Henrik Borgström continues to score and lead for Denver and it was the same tonight, facilitated by an empty net score at 19:23 of the third period. Borgström also had two assists on the night to see Denver surpass Miami at the Steve Cady Arena before 3,091.

Kiefer Sherwood scored the only goal for Miami at 9:52 of the third period on helpers by Scott Dornbrock and Casey Gilling. Miami’s effort in the third period was much too late. Their 20 shots in the third period did little to faze Tanner Jaillet in net for the Pioneers. Miami was held to five shots in the first two periods and went 0-3 on the man advantage. Dylan Gambrell, assisted by Borgström and Troy Terry, made it 3-0 just 35 seconds into the third frame.

Despite Denver’s 15-3 shot margin over Miami in the second, there were no goals to revel in. Jarid Lukosevicius rippled the mesh with two unanswered goals in the first period; one that was just 50 seconds in and the second goal, which was credited as the game winner, at 13:42.
