Tanner Laczynski had a goal and an assist but it was Kevin Miller who had the game-winning power-play goal for Ohio State as the Buckeyes capitalized on the man advantage twice in their 4-1 road win over Michigan State, extending OSU’s win streak to five.
The Buckeyes scored three of their four goals within the opening minutes of the first and second periods as well. Sasha Larocque scored 33 seconds into the game before Miller scored at 5:58 in the first to make it 2-0. Ronnie Hein scored 15 seconds into the second period to give Ohio State a 3-0 lead, and Laczynski’s goal came just 17 seconds later. Brennan Sanford scored for Michigan State at 10:10 in the third.
Sean Romeo stopped 21 shots in his 11th win of the season for Ohio State. John Lethemon started the game for Michigan State but was replaced after Laczynski’s goal in the second period. In relief, Ed Minney stopped the 12 shots he faced for the remainder of the game.
Ohio State (13-4-4, 6-4-1-0 B1G) and Michigan State (8-12-1, 2-8-1-1 B1G) face off again at 7:05 p.m. Saturday night in Munn Ice Arena.
