#7 Minnesota State 5, Alaska Anchorage 2

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Facing the league-leading Mavericks of Minnesota State, Alaska-Anchorage was unable to hold onto two one-goal leads, as four third period goals carried the Mavericks to a 5-2 win over the Seawolves.

Alaska-Anchorage (1-9-3) got on the board first when Tad Kozun netted a power play tally.  Minnesota State was unable to respond until late in the second period, when Parker Toumie scored a power play goal of his own, sending the game to the third period tied at one.

Just 1:27 into the final period, Nils Rygaard put the Seawolves back in the lead.  With Nicholas Nolan serving a tripping penalty, Rygaard put up a shorthanded tally for Alaska-Anchorage.

The Mavericks fought back, tying the game on a power play goal from Jake Jaremko.  C.J. Suess added two more goals, coupled with a goal courtesy of Ian Scheid, giving Minnesota State a lead they would not relinquish.

Between the pipes, Jason Pawloski made 16 saves in the win.  Across the ice, Olivier Mantha tallied 34 of his own.

Of note, Suess went 22-4 in the faceoff circle. His 22 faceoff wins were just one less than what the Seawolves managed.
