MANKATO, Minn. — Minnesota State managed to pull out a weekend split in their series with the Northern Michigan Wildcats as C.J. Seuss led the way with two goals and an assist in the victory. The Mavericks held a precarious 2-1 lead as the puck dropped in the third period, but quickly went to work, putting 19 third-period shots on Wildcats goaltender Atte Tolvanen while breaking the game open with goals from Marc Michaelis and Reggie Lutz.
Filip Starzynski led the Wildcats attack with a goal and an assist, while Tolvanen stopped 33 of 37 shots faced in the loss. Minnesota State starting goaltender Jason Pawloski turned aside 23 of 26 shots in the win, which saw the Mavericks improve their record to 14-6-0, while the Wildcats dropped to 11-9-2 overall.
