Former Rensselaer player Gosselin running for mayor of Quebec City

Jean-Francois Gosselin, who played at Rensselaer from 1995 to 1999, is running for mayor of Quebec City.

According to CBC, this is Gosselin’s first foray into municipal politics.

In 2007, he was elected to National Assembly in the riding of Jean-Lesage under the Action démocratique du Québec banner, only to lose in the 2008 election. Then in 2012, Gosselin ran again, this time for the provincial Liberals in La Peltrie, but he lost to Coalition Avenir du Québec’s Éric Caire.

Gosselin has said he will focus on three main issues during the campaign – transportation, city services and construction.

In his four years at RPI, Gosselin compiled 20 goals and 27 assists for 47 points in 125 games.
