Ferris State at Michigan Tech
Jack. The Huskies aren’t going to be happy about being swept at Bemidji State last weekend. They aren’t out of first place quite yet, and although I don’t think they’ll be able to overtake the Beavers, they’ll be motivated to finish strong and clinch second in the league during their Winter Carnival weekend. Huskies 4-2, 3-1
Sean: Michigan Tech isn’t going to capture the WCHA regular season title this season, but they’ll take out some of that frustration against Ferris State during Winter Carnival. Huskies 5-1, 3-2
Alaska at Northern Michigan
Jack: At this point, the Wildcats are looking pretty unstoppable with Atte Tolvanen in net. I think they can keep this up as long as he’s playing well and maybe sneak into the eighth or seventh playoff spot. Wildcats 4-1, 3-0
Sean: How many more straight shutouts can Atte Tolvanen get? I’d like to see him make it five in a row. Wildcats 1-0, 1-0
Alaska Anchorage at Lake Superior State
Jack: The Seawolves have spent a lot of time in the UP in 2017. They’re making their third trip there in four weeks. They’re looking to climb out of the league’s cellar and pass a red-hot Northern Michigan team. I think Lake State is going to make that very difficult. This should be a split. Lakers 5-2, Seawolves 3-2
Sean: Lake Superior State is trying to keep climbing in the standings and better position themselves for the playoffs. The Seawolves don’t want to get left at the bottom of the standings by themselves. Should be a desperate atmosphere. Seawolves 2-1, Lakers 3-2
Bemidji State at Alabama Huntsville
Jack: The Beavers need just one win to clinch their first-ever MacNaughton Cup. They’ll be trying to do it against a Chargers team that is also looking to keep their playoff hopes alive. My view: The Beavers will clinch the cup on Friday before the Chargers battle back to earn a split Saturday. Beavers 5-3, Chargers 3-2
Sean: The Chargers will make it close, but I think the Beavers will be celebrating on Friday and Saturday. Beavers 3-2, 2-1.
Mercyhurst at Bowling Green (Saturday)
Jack: This should be a fun one in BG. It’s the 50th anniversary of the Slater Family Ice Arena. Falcons alum Mike “Doc” Emrick will be there to call the game. Plus, it’s the final nonconference game for WCHA this season. I think all that adds up to a Bowling Green win to, ending the WCHA’s dismal non-league schedule on a high note. Should give Doc lots to talk about. Falcons 6, Lakers 2
Sean: Emrick will be doing the play-by-play over the radio in the second period, I think he’ll have quite a bit to talk about. Falcons 4-3
