Franklin Pierce will not finish its men’s season after the school announced Friday that it has been canceled due to what university officials called a “hazing incident” in a news release.
“I am saddened by this news,” university president Andrew Card said in a statement. “We have a set of core values here on this campus. Respecting and taking care of each other are certainly among them. This incident is not who we are. I apologize to the schools we were scheduled to play and to their hard working student-athletes.”
No details were provided on the alleged incident.
University officials finished an internal investigation Thursday after learning about the hazing, the news release adds.
Franklin Pierce had three games left on the schedule this season. The Ravens finish 4-15-3 on the year (0-5-3 NE-10), but did win their last game on Feb. 9, a 2-0 win over Daniel Webster at home.
