
The WCHA women’s conference this week announced its year-end awards, All-WCHA Teams and All-Rookie Team.
Minnesota junior forward Hannah Brandt was named Player of the Year after a 21-goal, 29-assist campaign for the Gophers. Brandt is also one of three finalists for the 2015 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award.
Senior Rachel Ramsey, a teammate of Brandt’s with the Gophers, earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Ramsey ranks second among all NCAA blueliners with 31 points and was also a top-10 finalist for the Kazmaier award.
Wisconsin’s Annie Pankowski took home Rookie of the Year laurels, leading the Badgers with 18 goals and 39 points.
Shelby Amsley-Benzie, the lone goaltender among the top 10 Kazmaier finalists, leads the nation with a .954 save percentage for North Dakota, was the league’s goaltending champion with a 1.17 GAA and was also the league’s Outstanding Student-Athlete of the Year as a junior at UND.
First-year Bemidji State bench boss Jim Scanlan picked up Coach of the Year honors after leading the Beavers to a 20-16-1 record overall and a 13-14-1 mark in the WCHA.
