WCHA hits Alaska’s Erickson with one-game suspension

Alaska forward Josh Erickson will sit out Saturday’s game against Minnesota State after he was suspended by the WCHA.

The one-game punishment was issued Saturday after Erickson was ejected from Friday’s 1-1 tie with the Mavericks for a contact-to-the-head major penalty in overtime.

Erickson, a sophomore, has two goals and an assist in 19 games this season.

He’s eligible to return when the Nanooks play at Alabama-Huntsville on Feb. 27.
