Minnesota State loses junior defenseman Jutzi for ‘personal reasons’

According to the Mankato Free Press, Minnesota State junior defenseman Jon Jutzi has been removed from the Mavericks’ roster.

Minnesota State coach Mike Hastings confirmed the situation on Wednesday to the Free Press, but said he could not elaborate on the issue.

“He is currently off the roster and currently not enrolled in school,” Hastings told the paper. “I can’t talk about anything other than that.”

Reached via Twitter by the Free Press, Jutzi said he’s off the team for “Personal reasons that are going to be held between myself and my family. Every intention on returning to MSU after Christmas.”

Jutzi had one goal and 14 assists in 82 career games, including six assists a season ago. Last season, he ranked second on the team with 70 blocked shots and was also a plus-5.
