Rochester Institute of Technology has announced that women’s assistant coach Matt Woodard has been elevated to full-time status, effective immediately.
Woodard will assist in all aspects of the program, including recruiting and on-ice preparation.
Woodard served as a part-time assistant coach in his first season with the Tigers in 2013-14. He replaces Shivaun Siegl, who resigned in May to pursue other opportunities outside of hockey.
“With Shivaun’s departure, promoting Matt was an easy decision,” said RIT head coach Scott McDonald in a statement. “Matt did a great job with the team last season and really excelled in recruiting and on-ice work with our players. Matt’s work ethic and passion for the game makes him a young, up and coming coach with a bright future. I am excited to keep him here at RIT and have him continue to develop our players and his coaching style.
“I would like to thank Shivaun Siegl for her dedication and hard work. She truly helped us develop as a Division I team in our transition from the Division III level and will certainly be missed here on campus. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
Before arriving at RIT, Woodard spent two seasons at Manhattanville, serving as the assistant women’s coach and recruiting coordinator, and also played four seasons at American International as a defenseman.
