Army promotes Lang to assistant coach

Army announced Tuesday that Eric Lang has been named the Black Knights’ new assistant coach.

Lang, who replaces Mike Warde, spent the 2012-13 season as a volunteer assistant coach with Army.

Lang spent three seasons as the women’s head coach at Manhattanville and one season as the men’s head coach before moving to Army last season.

A 1998 graduate of American International College, Lang also spent two seasons as an assistant at AIC.

“Eric was a valuable member of the staff last year and he will seemlessly step into this assistant role,” said Army head coach Brian Riley in a news release. “His credentials are excellent. He knows our conference, knows how important academics are, is beginning to understand West Point and is an excellent on-ice instructor and recruiter.”

Lang will handle Army’s power-play units, have recruiting responsibilities and will have a hand in video analysis and on- and off-ice work.
