Minnesota retains top spot in men’s D-I poll, but Quinnipiac a close second

With 30 first-place votes this week, Minnesota, despite being idle last weekend, remains the top-ranked team in the USCHO.com Division I Men’s Poll.

Quinnipiac, currently riding a 19-game unbeaten streak after tying Brown and beating Yale last weekend, garnered the other 20 first-place votes and is again No. 2 this week.

Miami jumps one to No. 4 with two wins over Alaska last weekend, while Boston College holds firm at No. 5 after topping Vermont last Friday night.

Western Michigan stays No. 6 with a win and a tie at Ferris State, North Dakota sits seventh again after tying and beating Wisconsin, St. Cloud State vaults up four spots to No. 8 after sweeping Bemidji State, Denver jumps one to No. 9 by virtue of its sweep at Minnesota-Duluth and Yale drops two spots to No. 10
after beating Princeton, but losing to Quinnipiac.

At No. 11, Minnesota State is up four despite being off last weekend, Notre Dame falls two to tie with Minnesota State this week after losing and tying at Ohio State, Boston University falls two and sits 13th after losing to Massachusetts on Friday night, Nebraska-Omaha retains the No. 14 slot after winning and losing in overtime against Michigan Tech and Niagara rises two to No. 15 after sweeping Bentley.

Massachusetts-Lowell is down three to No. 16 with losses to Merrimack and Maine, Dartmouth falls one to No. 17 after tying Union and losing to Rensselaer, Union is again No. 18, Wisconsin stays 19th and previously-unranked Merrimack, with wins over Massachusetts-Lowell and New Hampshire, enters the rankings this week at No. 20.

The USCHO.com Division I Men’s Poll consists of 50 voters, including 28 coaches from the Division I conferences and 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country.
