Michigan freshman Milne leaves Wolverines, joins OHL’s Attack

Michigan freshman forward Daniel Milne has left the school to play for the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League.

Milne played in seven games this year for the Wolverines without recording a point.

“Daniel Milne informed us today that he is leaving the Michigan hockey program,” Michigan coach Red Berenson said in a statement. “While we are disappointed with his decision, it is important to note that he is leaving in good academic standing.”

Milne, originally Owen Sound’s third-round pick in the 2010 OHL draft, is the third current NCAA freshman to leave for the OHL in just over a week, following Denver defenseman Dakota Mermis and Nebraska-Omaha goalie Anthony Stolarz, who both left their teams for the London Knights.
