Robert Morris’ home ice of the university’s men’s and women’s teams has been named the 84 Lumber Arena, effective March 21, 2012.
The 84 Lumber Arena is part of the RMU Island Sports Center, which also hosts numerous youth and adult ice hockey leagues and tournaments.
“84 Lumber has been a significant sponsor of hockey at all levels throughout the years, from the Penguins to the PIHL and America’s Showcase,” said 84 Lumber vice president of marketing Jeff Nobers in a news release. “This partnership of adding the naming rights to an arena that is host to both men’s and women’s Division I NCAA hockey programs is a logical extension.
“The RMU Island Sports Center hosts tens of thousands of patrons every year, so being able to attach our name to a great facility and university offers benefits that go well beyond the marketing benefits.”
