The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed Boston College junior forward Cam Atkinson to a two-year entry-level contract.
Atkinson registered 31 goals and 21 assists for 52 points in 39 games this past season. He set a career high in goals, which led the nation for the second consecutive season.
The 21-year-old finished his career at Boston College with a 68-56-124 line, 86 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +42 in 117 games.
“We want to wish Cam the very best with his decision to pursue his hockey career with the Blue Jackets organization,” BC head coach Jerry York said in a statement. “He has been an impact player during the course of his three years at Boston College and we wish him good luck at the professional level.”
Columbus drafted Atkinson in the sixth round (157th overall) of the 2008 NHL draft.
