The ECAC has named Yale goaltender Jackee Snikeris the 2010-11 women’s student-athlete of the year.
The fifth recipient of the award, which recognizes academic achievement and accomplishments on and off of the ice, Snikeris, also a Patty Kazmaier Award nominee, was one of three finalists for this year’s honor along with Harvard’s Katharine Chute and Clarkson’s Katelyn Ptolemy.
Snikeris is a history of medicine (pre-med) major with a 3.59 cumulative GPA and will receive her fourth ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team selection this season.
She has already graduated from the Yale Athletics Department’s Kiphuth Leadership Academy and also works at a nearby hospital where some of her work has been published in the Journal of Surgical Radiology.
Snikeris was recently named ECAC Hockey’s goaltender of the year, earned first team All-League honors and has been named team MVP twice.
