The New Year brings the holiday tournament season to a close. Now the real work begins, as team’s schedules start to be skewed more towards conference games. Here’s a rundown of the ECAC Northeast and MASCAC teams that took part in tourney play over the last week.
Codfish Bowl

Fitchburg State 4, UMass-Boston 1
One of two MASCAC teams to bring home a holiday trophy this year, Fitchburg State outslugged a hot Wentworth squad before downing host UMass-Boston to win the Codfish Bowl. Bobby Leiser turned back a staggering 58 shots and Fitchburg State forward Trevor Lawler was named the tournament’s MVP. This is the Falcons second Codfish Bowl victory, with the first coming in 2001.

Plymouth State extended it’s unbeaten streak to eight despite blowing a 4-1 lead to UNE in the championship game of the PSU Invitational. Senior Andrew Stewart was named tournament MVP, and was joined by teammates Kyle Greco, Richie Zobak, and Tyler Ingerson on the All-Tournament team. Becker’s David Graham was also named to the team.
Northfield Bank Tournament

The Bisons faced off against a pair of Top-10 teams, staying close to then-No. 4 Norwich before before falling to then No. 7 Adrian 7-3 in the third place game.
Cardinal Classic

Plattsburgh 7, Curry 1
Saturday, January 1
Curry 8, New England College 5
Plattsburgh proved too much for the Colonels, but Curry used three goals each in the first and third period to put away New England College in the third place game of the Cardinal Classic.
Saint Michael’s Tournament

Sunday, Jan. 2
Castleton 5, Johnson and Wales 0
The Wildcats advanced to the championship game, but then No. 14 Castleton proved to be too much.
Not a tournament game, but Salem State dropped Babson 4-1 on Sunday. The Vikings move to 7-3 on the year and will travel to Colby Monday night at 7:00.
