Wentworth returns offensive firepower

The Leopards lost the schools all-time winningest goalie, Justin Marriot, to graduation. Also gone is Jeff Olitch (21-21), but Wentworth returns a cache of talent led by Skylur Jameson (18-25), the ECAC Northeast Player of the Year.

Shaun Jameson returns on the blue line after a freshman season that saw him earn First Team All-ECAC Northeast honors, along with a spot on the All-Rookie team. Sophomore Michael Jarboe played well in a complementary role last year, posting a 2.32 goals-against-average and a .917 save percentage in 10 games.

Junior Casey Shade (8-19) and sophomore Anthony Principato (14-11) provide returning firepower up front.

“We’re returning 13 great kids that have had some success and are excited for a new season,” coach R.J.Tolan said. “We have a tremendous work ethic this year in our older kids and we’re hoping the freshman can contribute and provide energy and enthusiasm.”

Despite edging out Curry for the regular season championship on the final Sunday of the season, Wentworth was bounced from the playoffs by upstart Johnson & Wales in the semifinals.

“[If] we consistently work hard every day, we will have a chance at long term success,” Tolan said. “We just want to have fun and play with energy every night. Last year was very competitive; we expect to have to earn every win this season.”
