So after the North Dakota victory over Minn.-Duluth, I can not seem to find a way to get Yale out of the tournament.
I can get Yale as low as the 12 seed (tied for 11th with Cornell and UNH, but finishing ahead of UNH based on RPI) with four autobids below it in the PWR, but no lower than that.
Yale currently sits in the number 10 position, and it looks like only two teams are able to pass it in the PWR, Vermont and Northern Michigan. Northern Michigan can pass Yale with a 1-1 record, but the only way Vermont can pass Yale is with a 2-0 record this weekend.
Thus Yale can not fall further than 12th. And through all the permutations, if Yale is 12th, then there can only be four autobids below it, since Vermont would have passed Yale.
Yale can finish 11th and have five autobids behind it as well.
Therefore:
I Believe That Yale has locked up an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
That makes it a total of 11 teams now.
Denver, Miami, Wisconsin, Boston College, North Dakota, St. Cloud State, Bemidji State, Yale, Alabama-Huntsville, the ECAC Champion and the Atlantic Hockey Champion.
Five spots left to be taken now from Ferris State, Northern Michigan, Michigan, Alaska, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Boston University, Minnesota-Duluth, and possibly Cornell (who can fall into category one with the ECAC Championship).
