CC Rises to Third in USCHO.com Poll

Colorado College is back where it started — where it started last season, anyway.

The Tigers moved up two spots to No. 3 in the USCHO.com Division I Men’s Poll released Monday, matching their spot in the 2008 preseason poll. Since then, it has been an interesting ride for CC.

CC head coach Scott Owens’ team ascended to No. 1 in November last season, only to take a fall in a season that ended with a first-round WCHA playoff loss.

The Tigers didn’t receive much attention at the start of this season, but they have posted an 11-4-3 record and entered the top three after taking three points at St. Cloud State last weekend.

Miami and Denver stayed in the top two spots; Denver didn’t move despite splitting a series at No. 12 Minnesota-Duluth.

Cornell and Boston College round out the top five. The Eagles improved five spots over last week’s poll.

Wisconsin moved into the top 10, placing seventh in the rankings after coming in 11th last week.

Bemidji State dropped six spots to No. 10 after losing twice at home to Minnesota State.

Massachusetts-Lowell fell out of the top 10, sinking five spots to 14th.

The only ranked team in action this weekend is No. 6 North Dakota, which hosts the U.S. World Junior team in an exhibition game Saturday.
