The BU Question

There certainly is confusion out there regarding BU and where it would be sent if it was the number one overall seed.

In previous editions of Bracketology I’ve tried to point out that it’s not really about which is closer, Bridgeport or Manchester, but it’s more about where the bracket integrity lies.

If BU is the number one overall seed, then you probably want to match it in the same bracket as the number 8 seed.  If that number 8 seed is UNH, then BU goes to Manchester.  If that number 8 seed is Yale, then BU goes to Bridgeport.  If neither UNH or Yale is the number 8 seed, then I would think that BU would go where attendance might be a boon because BU is there.

There is a statement that says that the teams are placed on geographic proximity, but let’s face it, in BU’s case either Manchester or Bridgeport are close enough to call it even.

For example if you look at this week’s Bracketology, I have BU in Manchester.  This is because the number eight seed I have is New Hampshire.

So I think this is the answer to the BU question.  If BU is the number one overall seed, it will most likely go to the regional where the number eight seed is, if that number eight seed is Yale or UNH.  If not, place BU where it can help attendance.
