A split against Minnesota-Duluth wasn’t enough to knock Denver out of the top spot in Monday’s USCHO.com/CSTV Division I men’s poll, as the Pioneers retained 16 first-place votes to keep the No. 1 position.
Colorado College, which split with Wisconsin, and Cornell, which beat Rensselaer and Union last weekend, tied for No. 2 in this week’s poll. The Big Red received 14 first-place votes and the Tigers six.
Michigan, which swept Notre Dame, was fourth with the remaining four first-place votes, followed by Boston College, which fell three spots after beating Harvard and then losing twice to Massachusetts-Lowell.
Wisconsin was stable at No. 6, with New Hampshire, a winner over Merrimack and Northeastern, coming in seventh. Ohio State polled at No. 8 after splitting with Michigan State. Boston University, which beat Northeastern in the Beanpot championship and then won two against Massachusetts, finished ninth, followed by UML at No. 10.
Harvard, which beat Clarkson and St. Lawrence after dropping its Beanpot tilt to BC, was No. 11, and idle Minnesota came in at No. 12.
Colgate fell one spot to No. 13 despite beating Union and Rensselaer, with Maine stable at No. 14 after splitting with Providence.
Finally, Northern Michigan returned to the poll at No. 15 after taking three points from Michigan Tech. The Wildcats replaced North Dakota, which dropped out after splitting with Alaska-Anchorage.
