Boston College made it three straight weeks at the top of the USCHO.com/CSTV Division I men’s poll Monday, taking 37 of 40 first-place votes and all but three points overall to keep its grip on No. 1.
The Eagles tied Massachusetts Friday in their only game of the weekend, and with No. 2 Michigan and No. 3 Minnesota idle, that was plenty to keep the top spot for another week. The Wolverines and Gophers, with the remaining three first-place votes between them, also held their positions.
A sweep of now-No. 9 North Dakota propelled Wisconsin up to No. 4, followed by Colorado College, which dropped a spot after splitting with No. 11 Denver. New Hampshire was at No. 6, with the week’s big gainer, Ohio State, coming in seventh.
The Buckeyes climbed six spots after a sweep of now-No. 13 Northern Michigan. Interestingly, the Wildcats didn’t fall far — just one position — in the voters’ esteem despite the pair of losses.
Eighth place went to idle Minnesota-Duluth, while Cornell, which lost its first game of the year at Michigan State, came in tied for No. 9 with the aforementioned Sioux.
The Pioneers were next, and then Maine continued its rollercoaster season with a loss to Northeastern and a win at Massachusetts-Lowell. The Black Bears dropped two spots to No. 12, followed by NMU.
Two perennial national contenders occupied the final slots in the rankings. Michigan State returned to the poll at No. 14, and Boston University made its season debut in the Top 15 after sweeping Merrimack.
Dropping out of the poll were Colgate and Alaska-Anchorage.
