Matthew Kennedy has been chosen to take the reins of the Neumann women’s hockey program. The announcement was made by Director of Athletics Chuck Sack.
Kennedy, a 2001 graduate of the school, played for the Neumann men for two seasons after transferring from Mohawk Valley Community College where he was a Junior College All-American. He was a two-year captain of the Knights.
Kennedy was also a member of the 2000-01 and 2001-02 Neumann men’s coaching staffs before joining the staff of the women’s team for a brief period in 2002.
“I am happy to once again join the athletic staff at Neumann. It has been a home for me since 1998. I look forward to the challenges ahead,” Kennedy said.
“I am committed to the women’s program here at Neumann. I see major changes ahead and more wins in our immediate future. I could not be happier right now.”
Neumann is Division III and a member of the ECAC West, where the team finished with a record of 3-7-2 last season, 6-10-2 overall.
“With the high caliber of competition in our conference it was important to identify a candidate who understood how competitive it truly is,” said Sack.
“It was obvious that Matt had insights into our league through all of his previous experiences. Add the fact that he is a graduate of Neumann College and has represented Neumann College in so many positive ways, makes all of us associated with Neumann College very excited.”
