UND’s Brandt Arrested on Theft Charge

North Dakota goaltender Jake Brandt has been arrested for theft in his hometown of Roseau, Minn.

According to police, Brandt stole $200 worth of “pull tabs” from a local bar. His first court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 6.

WDAZ-TV Channel 8 in Grand Forks, N.D., quotes Sioux coach Dean Blais as saying, “Brandt is a member of our Sioux hockey family, and we will try to get counseling for him.”

Brandt has the most experience of those involved in the muddled North Dakota goaltending situation. The 5-foot-10 junior was 11-4-4 last season, with a 2.40 goals against average.
