Fredonia goaltender Will Hamele has been named 2002-2003 SUNYAC player
of the year and Oswego’s George Roll coach of the year.
Hamele helped lead the Blue Devils to a 10-4 conference record in his
senior season, which earned Fredonia the second seed in this year’s
conference tournament. He ranks third among conference goaltenders with
a 1.77 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.
Roll directed the Lakers to a first-place finish in the regular season
and the top seed in the SUNYAC tournament.
Forwards Kris Heeres of Geneseo and Jocelyn Dubord of Oswego were
selected as co-rookies of the year. Both players rank tenth among the
league’s scoring leaders with 15 points. Heeres had nine goals and six
assists during the regular season for the Knights while Dubord scored
six goals and added nine assists in his freshman campaign for the
Lakers.
The SUNYAC also announced its first and second all-conference teams.
