Tigers Win Heavyweight WCHA Battle

The No. 6 St. Cloud State Huskies dropped a 4-3 decision at home against No. 4 Colorado College. The loss drops SCSU’s record to 19-7-1, 12-7-0 WCHA, while CC improves to 20-5-1, 15-5-0 WCHA. The two teams will play again on Feb. 3, at 7:05 p.m. in St. Cloud, Minn.

SCSU jumped to a quick 1-0 lead with a power play tally by Tyler Arnason at 7:31 of the first. CC tied it with a goal by Alex Kim at 12:16 of the first before Mark Hartigan gave the Huskies’ a 2-1 lead with his 18th goal of the season at 16:07.

In the second period, CC’s Mark Cullen scored on a power play chance at 2:02 before Peter Sejna charted the go-ahead goal at 9:55 of the second. CC gained the game winner at 3:17 of the third when Noah Clarke scored. SCSU’s Nate DiCasmirro posted his fifth goal of the season at 7:09 of the third on the power play with assists from Brandon Sampair and Arnason. CC
iced the win with an empty netter by Kim at 18:57.

Colin Zulianello of CC was the goalie of record with 17 saves, while Scott Meyer had 19 saves for SCSU and Dean Weasler had three saves. Overall, CC outshot the Huskies 27-20.
